Google's Top AI Scientist Jeff Dean Leaves to Start a Company That Uses AI for Science

Jeff Dean, one of Google's earliest and most senior scientists, is leaving after 27 years to start Discovery Loop, a company that uses AI to help do scientific research automatically. Co-founders include Sanjay Ghemawat, Quoc Le, and Oriol Vinyals. Radical Ventures and Khosla Ventures co-led funding, with Alphabet also backing the startup. Dean will serve as CEO.
