Google's Jeff Dean Departs After 27 Years to Launch AI Science Startup Discovery Loop

Jeff Dean, Google's chief scientist and employee number 30, is leaving after 27 years to launch Discovery Loop, a public benefit corporation using AI to automate scientific research. Co-founders include Sanjay Ghemawat, Quoc Le, and Oriol Vinyals. Radical Ventures and Khosla Ventures co-led funding, with Alphabet also backing the startup. Dean will serve as CEO.
