Italian player bins €1 million lottery ticket after misreading shop message

A Bitonto player threw away a €1 million lottery ticket after a shop screen showed "non pagabile" — meaning the prize was too large for that shop to pay, not that the ticket was worthless. Waste workers found it intact two days later in a garbage truck before it was crushed. The winner paid the search costs. No lottery operator has responded.
