TikTok Star César Gastélum Shot Dead While Broadcasting Live in Mexico

César Gastélum, a comedy video creator with over 500,000 TikTok followers, was shot dead at close range on August 4 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, while broadcasting live to his audience. Two men on a motorbike escaped; no one has been arrested. This is the second such killing of a livestreaming influencer in Mexico in about a year. Sinaloa's violence has risen sharply since rival drug cartel factions split in September 2024.
