Mexican TikTok Influencer César Gastélum Shot Dead While Livestreaming in Culiacán

César Gastélum, a comedy creator with over 500,000 TikTok followers, was shot dead at close range on August 4 in Culiacán, Sinaloa, while livestreaming. Two men on a motorbike fled; no arrests have been made. It is the second livestreamed influencer killing in Mexico in roughly a year, after Valeria Márquez's 2024 murder. Sinaloa violence has surged since rival Sinaloa cartel factions split in September 2024.
