US Says Strait of Hormuz Oil Route Could Reopen Within Days

Treasury Secretary Bessent told CNBC on August 4 that the US and Iran could strike a deal "today or tomorrow" to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a narrow channel carrying about a fifth of the world's oil. No deal was final then. A June agreement evidently failed to fully restore passage.
