Three Countries Try to Broker Peace Between the US and Iran

Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman are passing peace proposals between the US and Iran, aiming to restart a ceasefire that fell apart in July. They also want to reopen the Strait of Hormuz — a narrow sea route used to ship about a fifth of the world's oil. On August 3, a projectile hit a cargo ship off Oman's coast.
