Three-Nation Mediation Aims to Restore US-Iran Ceasefire and Reopen Strait of Hormuz

Qatar, Pakistan, and Oman are jointly mediating US-Iran ceasefire talks, exchanging draft proposals between Washington and Tehran in what Qatar calls "very progressive stages." The effort seeks to restore a mid-June ceasefire that collapsed in July and reopen the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of global oil and LNG transits. A projectile struck a cargo vessel off Oman's coast on August 3.
