Gatwick Airport Wins Approval for Second Runway
A UK court has rejected the final challenge to Gatwick Airport's £2.2 billion second runway, clearing the way for about 100,000 extra flights per year. The transport secretary approved the plan in September 2025, with a target opening of 2030. The government has pledged over £219 million for cleaner airplane fuel to offset pollution, though whether that will be enough remains unclear.
