Solar power broke records in Great Britain in July 2026

Solar panels produced a record 14.4% of Great Britain's electricity in July 2026, up from 9.6% a year earlier. Ember analyst Frankie Mayo calls it the UK's "second solar boom." The jump includes both home rooftops and large solar farms, with 142,536 new setups in early 2026 — the most for any six months since 2011.
