Spain Says Ceuta Border Crisis Under Control After 67 Deaths and 50,000 Crossings

Spain said on August 1, 2026, that its migrant crisis in Ceuta was under control. Over 50,000 migrants had crossed from Morocco into this Spanish city on Africa's coast — one of only two land borders between the EU and Africa. About 48,300 chose to return. At least 67 people died.
