Spain Says Ceuta Migrant Crisis Under Control After 67 Deaths, 50,000 Crossings

Spain declared the migrant crisis in its North African enclave of Ceuta under control on August 1, 2026, after more than 50,000 migrants crossed the border from Morocco. An estimated 48,300 voluntarily returned. The death toll climbed to 67. Ceuta, a fortified Spanish city on Africa's coast, is one of only two land borders between the EU and Africa.
