Mercedes Builds New Electric C-Class From Scratch Instead of Converting Old Design
Mercedes-Benz is building its first all-electric C-Class on a brand-new platform rather than modifying its gas-car blueprint. The new design uses 800-volt electrical architecture—basically a more powerful charging system—enabling faster recharging and energy recovery when braking. The C400 4Matic will travel 762km on a charge and launch in 2027. Analysis: This suggests Mercedes is choosing careful engineering over rushing to market, positioning itself for competitive strength in the late 2020s.
