Massive Crowd Crosses Into a Small Spanish City, at Least 18 Dead

On 31 July 2026, about 49,000 people crossed from Morocco into Ceuta — a small piece of Spain on Africa's coast. That added more than half to the city's 85,000 people. At least 18 died, some drowning, others crushed at a beach fence. A police group called it a humanitarian crisis. Both countries blamed criminal groups.
