Senate Again Blocks Vote to Limit President's Power to Fight Iran

The Senate voted 49–50 on July 30, 2026 against limiting the president's power to use military force in Iran — the second such rejection in two weeks. Lawmakers have tried since January to take back their constitutional right to decide on war. A brief truce with Iran had collapsed weeks earlier, around July 13.
