Victoria gets a new premier — again

Ben Carroll became Victoria's third premier in under three years on 28 July 2026, after Jacinta Allan quit minutes before a party vote to oust her. Carroll told Victorians: "I am not Daniel Andrews. I am not Jacinta Allan." Andrews still backed him, calling him "a great campaigner." The state election is in November — three months away.
