Australia's First National Emergency Phone Alert Test: 94% Reached, Some Missed

Australia tested its first national phone alert system on 27 July 2026. It reached 94% of cell towers, Minister Kristy McBain said. But some people, including iPhone 17 Pro users, got no alert. McBain cited coverage gaps, outdated software, and incompatible devices. The system launches fully in October 2026. NEMA, the agency running it, is still reviewing the test results.
