Pompeii: Rare Painted Ceiling Pieces Discovered

Archaeologists at Pompeii found pieces of a painted ceiling — a rare discovery, since ceiling artwork was mostly destroyed during the 79 CE volcanic eruption while paintings on walls often survived. Pompeii's archaeological park reported the find in May 2024 as an early summary; no lab testing or reconstruction is confirmed yet.
