Last Surviving Attacker from 1972 Airport Massacre Dies at 78

Kozo Okamoto, the only survivor of three gunmen who killed more than two dozen people at Tel Aviv's Lod Airport in 1972, died July 23, 2026, in Beirut at 78. A Palestinian militant group announced his death. Okamoto spent 12 years in Israeli prison before being freed in a 1985 prisoner swap, then lived in Lebanon for decades.
