NYC Mayor Asks Lawyers If He Can Arrest Israel's Leader

Mayor Zohran Mamdani told The New York Times he is asking NYC's law department whether he can arrest Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu if he visits for the September 2026 UN meeting. Netanyahu faces an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court, a global court that prosecutes war crimes. But the US never joined the treaty creating that court, so it is unclear what power a city mayor would have. Israel's UN ambassador says Netanyahu will attend regardless.
