Rebel Fighters Ambush Mali Army Convoy After Town Recapture

On July 18, 2026, two rebel groups attacked a Mali army convoy leaving the town of Anefis, which the army had recaptured on July 10 at a cost of about 90 soldiers killed. It was the second such ambush in the area that month. The army said it fought back but did not report any new losses.
