New Labour leader Andy Burnham promises to rebuild Britain's industries

Andy Burnham became Labour leader unopposed, backed by 379 MPs. In his first speech, at the TUC trade union headquarters in London, he rejected the free-market policies of the past 40 years and promised to rebuild Britain's industries. He said his government would be 'distinctively Labour' and focus on solving problems, not scoring points. He will name his team when he takes office.
