Burnham rejects 'neoliberal' era and vows to reindustrialise Britain in first speech as Labour leader

Andy Burnham, elected Labour leader unopposed after securing 379 MP nominations, used his first speech at TUC headquarters in London to reject "neoliberal" policies of the past 40 years and vow to reindustrialise Britain. He promised a government that is "distinctively Labour" and built on "problem-solving rather than point-scoring". Cabinet appointments are expected when he formally takes office.
