A Forest Near Paris Is Burning — and That's Unusual

A wildfire in Fontainebleau Forest, just southeast of Paris, burned an area roughly the size of 1,100 soccer fields by 13 July 2026. France's national police force called it unprecedented. Forest fires usually hit southern France, not near Paris. Hundreds of firefighters and aircraft dumped water on the flames, and residents were evacuated.
