Half of Young CD Buyers Don't Own a CD Player, Report Says
About half of Gen Z and Millennial CD buyers in the US don't actually own a CD player, according to Luminate's 2026 midyear report. US CD sales still hit 16.3 million in the first half of 2026, up 16% from a year earlier. Luminate says CDs are now affordable collectibles that sit alongside streaming, not rivals to it.
