Bridge collapse: Italian highway boss gets 12 years in prison
Giovanni Castellucci, who once ran Italy's main highway company, was sentenced to 12 years in prison on July 16, 2026, for the 2018 Morandi bridge collapse in Genoa that killed 43 people. He was accused of delaying repairs on a key bridge support. Prosecutors had asked for over 18 years. He was already serving six years for another highway disaster.
