kitty 0.50.0 can now reopen your terminal windows after logout or restart

Kovid Goyal released kitty 0.50.0, a terminal app for typing commands, on 3 November 2026. A new setting saves every window, including its text history, on logout, restart or shutdown, and reopens them at next start. Saved data is encrypted. On macOS, the key stays in the Keychain; on Linux, restoring needs the Inhibit desktop portal, a system feature.
