Uber and Waymo Take Opposite Sides on Self-Driving Car Plan in D.C.

Uber is fighting a D.C. law allowing self-driving taxis to operate without human drivers, saying it will put drivers out of work and help its rival Waymo. Waymo supports it. The bill would charge $0.15 per mile traveled to help retrain displaced drivers. Uber argues self-driving cars should work alongside human drivers, not replace them entirely.
