Teachers' Union Sues Over Student Loan Forgiveness Credit

The American Federation of Teachers sued Trump administration officials on October 30, 2026. It alleges the Education Department undid credit toward Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) that borrowers already earned, and denied relief under the Biden-era PSLF Buyback program. The suit asks a court to order compliance with the law. The department says PSLF processing has resumed after a pause.
