Amazon's internet satellites fall far behind SpaceX's Starlink

Amazon's Project Kuiper has launched about 400 satellites toward a planned 3,232—roughly 12 percent complete in 15 months. SpaceX's Starlink has over 11,000 working satellites, including 1,589 launched in early 2026. The difference comes down to rockets: SpaceX reuses the same Falcon 9 rockets repeatedly, launching far more often. Amazon relies on other companies for rocket rides, creating a bottleneck no matter how good its satellites are.
