Kuiper's constellation race slows as SpaceX's reusability gap widens
Amazon's Project Kuiper has fielded roughly 400 satellites over 15 months toward a 3,232-unit constellation—12 percent complete. SpaceX has deployed nearly 11,000 functioning Starlink satellites since 2019, 1,589 in the first half of 2026 alone. The gap reflects launch cadence: SpaceX's ability to fly Falcon 9 rockets dozens of times treats Starlink deployment as a scheduling problem, while Kuiper relies on external providers including Blue Origin and ULA, capping throughput regardless of satellite design merit.
