Police get more time to prepare for new surveillance law

Parliament has approved a new law that gives police extra powers but with privacy protections. Before it starts, police have six months to build the computer systems they need to follow the privacy rules. Police have been working on these systems for years but aren't ready yet. Parliament will check in three years to see if they've caught up.
