Opera Lets Websites Run AI Programs on Your Own Device

Opera has introduced WebAI, a set of rules that lets websites run AI programs on your device rather than distant servers, TechCrunch reported on October 27, 2026. It works with programs including Google's Gemma and, on Macs, Apple's built-in model. Opera says speed depends on your device's hardware. It is an early test in Opera One that you must switch on.
