John Lewis Closing Services as Staff Warn of Exhaustion

John Lewis will shut currency exchange and gift-wrapping services at 30 of its 36 stores, eliminating roughly 200 jobs by autumn 2026. The company says customer satisfaction scores are up. But staff tell The Guardian that shop workers are already stretched thin. Management says floor assistants already handle most of these queries—hard to believe if those same workers lack the time to do it well.
