California's one-time tax on billionaires lags as voting starts
California's Proposition 40 would charge billionaires living in the state on Jan. 1, 2026 a one-time tax of up to 5%. As voting starts, support is under half, a Citrin-POLITICO poll found. For savers and investors, that means the result is still uncertain. I would not treat such an early poll as a prediction.
