Hospital Director Held in Israeli Prison for Over 555 Days With No Charges Filed

Dr. Hussam Abu Safia ran a major hospital in Gaza and has been held in Israeli prison for 555 days without being charged with a crime. A human rights group warned he is in serious danger. A lawyer who saw him on July 2 said he was chained up, couldn't breathe or speak properly, and had fresh bruises on his head and neck. Israel says it can hold him indefinitely without a trial.
