Senate stops cut to extra health help for over-65s

The Senate killed Labor's private health insurance bill to cut help for over-65s on 14 October 2026. The plan would have trimmed their bigger discount from April 2027. The Greens teamed with the Coalition and crossbench independents to stop it unless pensioners were spared. Smaller spats have sunk bigger savings.
