No growth in nursing student numbers next intake

Nursing student numbers will stay at 11,270 for the next intake, the same as 2025. The Tertiary Education Commission, which funds post-school study, asked training schools to hold the line. There are not enough supervised hospital shifts for more students in any Health NZ area after recent growth, deputy chief executive Gillian Dudgeon said in early October.
