New mental health law replaces 32-year-old rules

Parliament has finished work on a new Mental Health Bill, replacing laws from 1992 that have guided how people can be required to get mental health treatment. The new law passed on 5 July using fast-tracked procedures to speed up the process, though putting it into practice will still be complex work.
