Pope Has Lung Operation; Senior Cardinal to Lead Weekly Meeting
Pope Leo XIV, 71, is in Rome's Gemelli hospital to have a small spot on his lung, found early, removed. The Vatican says the operation is low-risk and cancelled his meetings until Oct. 20. Cardinal Luis Antonio Tagle from the Philippines, the senior leader of the cardinals who advise the pope, will host Wednesday's weekly public meeting instead.
