Australian Engineer Allowed to Go Home After Four Years Held in Iraq
Australian engineer Robert Pether can leave Iraq after more than four years held in Baghdad, Foreign Minister Penny Wong said 12 October 2026. He was arrested in April 2021 after a business argument over building Iraq's central bank headquarters. Let out of prison because he was sick but told he could not travel, he is now on his way.
