Labour says no to rent rises for state houses or welfare payments for housing

Labour confirmed on 30 June it will not raise rents for people living in state-owned houses or increase the housing part of welfare payments if elected. This limits how the government can reduce spending on housing support. It protects tens of thousands of tenants from higher rents or lower payments, though Labour has not yet said how it will manage the cost instead.
