Labour rules out state house rent rises and Accommodation Supplement increases

Labour confirmed on 30 June it will not increase state house rents or the Accommodation Supplement if elected. The commitment forecloses two levers the Crown could use to offset housing subsidies. It protects tens of thousands of tenants from direct pressure on rents and welfare payments, though Labour has not yet outlined how it will manage the state housing subsidy liability instead.
