Selfie Reveals New Giant Water Flower in Colombia

A giant new water plant was found in Colombia's Inírida River after waterlily expert Carlos Magdalena from Kew spotted a strange giant lily pad behind US nursery owner Jeremiah Harris in an Instagram selfie. Harris had called it Victoria amazonica, which does not grow there. A five-day trip with Bogotá plant scientists and Indigenous guides confirmed it as Victoria colombiana.
