Restaurants Must Tell You Where Your Fish Comes From, Starting 2026

Starting July 2026, Australian restaurants and cafés will have to label seafood as Australian, imported, or mixed. Until now, only packaged fish at supermarkets had labels — restaurants could serve imported seafood without telling you. Now, inspectors will check that venues follow the new rules.
