Why a Gulf storm could pause a lot of oil

About 11.2 million barrels of oil from the Gulf of Mexico could be paused during Storm Isaias, Reuters reported Oct. 7, 2026. Offshore platforms — floating oil factories — are closing temporarily before the storm reaches the Gulf Coast. The oil is delayed, not gone. That pause could briefly lift oil prices for energy investors.
