OpenAI says new AI solved old math puzzles

OpenAI shared 722 math papers in 372 groups it says solve puzzles unsolved for years, written by an AI system not yet public. Posted Oct. 6, 2026 as 'Sharing AI progress in mathematics' on GitHub, a file-sharing site, with rules for fixes and credit, each averaging three hours of ChatGPT Pro work.
