WHO says low danger after Siberia lab worker death
WHO said risk of spread in Russia is low on 6 October 2026, after 28-year-old Darya Shipilova died two days after getting sick at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Research Institute, a lab studying germs. Spokesperson Christian Lindmeier said no one else is sick, with contacts watched and healthy. Russia said she died of lung infection from unknown cause.
