Startup raises $200M to build sun-like power plant

Type One Energy raised $200 million on Oct. 6, 2026, in a second major private round, Series B, led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures and Clutterbuck Capital. The Knoxville company said the money moves forward its fusion plant, which makes energy the way the sun does, planned for 2034. CEO Christofer Mowry said it pays for about half the 400-megawatt plant.
