National and Labour leaders hold first TV debate

Christopher Luxon, who leads National, and Chris Hipkins, who leads Labour, met in TVNZ's first live TV debate for the 2026 election on October 6. Jack Tame asked the questions in the 90-minute programme on TVNZ1, TVNZ+ and 1News.co.nz from 7pm. They covered cost of living, health, education, climate and the environment.
